Welcome to Ankuria - Where Green Begins
Started by a 17-year-old, Ankuria is more than just a store. We aim to foster connections between people and nature by offering home-made gardening kits that contain seeds, soil, and pots. Our mission is to inspire individuals to create their own green space and contribute to a healthy planet. Everyone can experience the joy of gardening with our kits, regardless of expertise or available space. What sets Ankuria apart is our commitment to donating 100% of our revenue to charity, making every purchase meaningful.

We also want to debunk the concept of a 'green thumb' because it perpetuates the idea that only certain people have the natural skills to garden. However, gardening is a skill that anyone can learn, regardless of background or experience, and it's a wonderful way to contribute to a healthier planet!

Why are we called 'Ankuria'?
The name reflects our deep-rooted commitment to growth, sustainability, and community.

The word "Ankur" in Hindi means "sprout" or "seedling", symbolizing the beginning of a new life and the potential for growth and transformation. The suffix "-ia" is used in forming scientific botanical names in the Latin language so evokes a sense of identity.
Overall, this makes Ankuria a unique space where sustainability and gardening converge to create a greener future!
Meet Dishan!
Hi! My name is DIshan and I founded Ankuria with the goal of introducing others to a big hobby of mine - gardening! I've always enjoyed looking at and understanding different plants; however, this interest really took off during the pandemic where I had a lot of time at home to cultivate a garden. This has now become a place of relaxation for me where we grow chilis, lemon verbena, cotton, jasmine, multiple basil varieties, rosemary, and so much more!

I've had the privilege of working with diverse communities to share my love for gardening and sustainability. In Singapore, I collaborated with migrant workers, teaching them the basics of gardening and how it can be a therapeutic activity. I've also worked with middle school students at government schools in Bangalore, focusing on waste segregation and water conservation.

Now, with Ankuria, my goal is to make gardening accessible to everyone and to promote eco-friendly practices through our products. I firmly believe that anyone can grow a garden, and through Ankuria, I hope to inspire others to join the movement towards a more sustainable and green future.
